Even if back in 2005 I was living in Madrid, I hadn’t seen any other place in Spain. So, when I graduated, I planned a ‘family celebration’ in Barcelona but -at the last moment- my mother couldn’t come with us. I don’t remember what happened, but since then she had kept saying that I own her a trip to Barcelona; and that’s what she got for her latest birthday! (yep, ten years later, but… better late than never!). Of course my father booked along, so now we are back at daydreaming all together with a Barcelona map spread over our table.
And so, I’ve now embraced the concept of change in travelling too and, this summer, I’m doing something completely different. For a change, you know ;-)
First of all, I won’t be travelling solo but with two friends. Second, I won’t go East as usual, but I am going West.
To the westernmost point of Europe, actually.
This summer, I’m going to Portugal.
Christmas holidays are coming, and I finally booked my next trip!
As usual, the first step is downsizing and so my ten days in Athens and Skopje turned into one week in Athens… but I’m sure it will be amazing as well!
I did my homework and jotted down a weekly itinerary; now it’s your turn: let me know your favourite places in Athens and all those secret spots I haven’t been able to track down: please write your suggestions in the comments area below!
Even if I had to downsize further my road-trip itinerary around Albania, I am pretty satisfied with my 13-day travel plan, which will include unspoiled beaches, industrial heritage, canyons, lakes, mountains, natural parks, historic towns, UNESCO world sites and, of course, a lot of traditional food! :)
